It’ll be hard to leave this place. Nina and I have decided to sell our flat in Amsterdam and move to the Hague (see our ad). Kijkduinstraat in Amsterdam’s Bos en Lommer neighbourhood has been good to us. We got married in the nearby town hall in the Westerpark two years ago. Our bikes have never been stolen, even when we’ve forgotten the key in the lock.
I’m going to start blogging again regularly. Really. I am. Well anyway, I would like to. And that’s why I’ve installed this new wordpress app on my phone.
WordPress 3 is the most user-friendly and polished blog/CMS I’ve ever used. I love it!
Chavez cuts off electricity to 80 businesses by excess consumption
Chinese Restaurants, pubs, motels serve for hours and the official distributor of Sony in the country today will be dark by order of the Government of Venezuela. The National Electricity Corporation in the newspapers yesterday published a list of 80 companies that were enacted in Caracas with a 24-hour power cut which took effect this morning, not having achieved the goal of reducing consumption by 20%, ordered by the Ministry of Electricity on 9 February.
“We encourage consumers to adopt these high users’ experiences who have reached the quota reduction,” read yesterday at the foot of the notice. Does not accept the invitation, the government will suspend the power supply for three consecutive days. If they return, will be out of service permanently or until stabilization of the national power grid, something that neither the Ministry of Electric Power knows when.
The penalties were announced by Hugo Chávez on February 8, when the electrical emergency decreed in the country. At that time the president commander warned that firms with higher energy consumption to 25 megawatts would be scheduled by the government as “high consumers” and that all were obliged to reduce their demand by 20%.

Joe Glenton was sentenced last week to nine months jail for refusing to redeploy to Afghanistan with the British Army.
Folowing a military tour in Afghanistan, Joe refused redeployment and spent 2 years AWOL in Australia before surfacing at an anti-war march in London to denounce the war .

Greenpeace activists occupied the roof of the former nuclear power plant of Montalto di Castro. The activists unfurled a huge banner on the roof of the plant with the word “nuclear emergency” and another banner of 150 square meters representing the ‘nuclear’ scream, symbol of the Greenpeace campaign against nuclear power.
I’m going to try something over on facebook for a Greenpeace campaign, which I saw somebody do to kick-start his webhosting business a few years ago: Offer limited edition images–as if they were prints–to encourage more people to want to post them on their profile/webpage.
